July 24, 2020 Update
Over the past few weeks SAMHA's Return to Hockey Committee has met to comb through the guidelines set out by Hockey Alberta, Hockey Canada and the Chief Medical Officer. From these documents we have compiled our own document to address a return to hockey for the 2020/21 season. Please understand that as the current situation has been changing very quickly, we will continue to reassess and modify our programs as needed and all changes will be communicated with our members. We know there will be questions and have created a form for our members to ask their questions, COVID related and otherwise! Links are provided below.
Please know that our priority is the safety of our players, coaches and families. The plan we have established meets or exceeds all Provincial expectations however we do understand that some families may not feel comfortable coming back to hockey yet. For those that choose not to play this season, we wish you health and safety and look forward to seeing you next season!
We are confident that our members will do their best to work within the guidelines set out and we can have a successful season even if it looks different than previous years!

Hockey Alberta released its Return to Hockey Plan yesterday, providing the framework and minimum standards for Hockey Alberta’s Members to undertake hockey activities.
The Plan also allows players, coaches, officials, parents and other stakeholders to understand the current guidelines for operating sanctioned hockey for the 2020-21 season.
SAMHA is currently reviewing this plan. Once we receive guidelines from our ice providers (City of St. Albert, Garrison, RQB, Legal), we will be finalizing our Return to Play protocols and procedures.
The Hockey Alberta Return to Hockey Plan and its appendices, along with other announcements and documents pertaining to COVID-19 and its impact on hockey in Alberta, can be reviewed on the Hockey Alberta website through the link below.
